Manchester has four major theatres all within a few minutes of the city centre. These are The Royal Exchange, The Opera House, The Palace Theatre and a 10 minute tram journey will take you to The Lowry in Salford Quays. These theatres host national touring shows and productions as well as local theatre groups' work.

The city is also home to a number of smaller theatres which are more intimate spaces. Here you will find everything from community theatre to short runs productions of new and established plays.
