After a somewhat damp day in Manchester we decided to go early doors to Atlas Bar, by Deansgate Station, for a drink and some food.
Atlas is easy to find and has recently been refitted giving the customer a smart and very well appointed space to while away a few hours. It even has an outdoor terrace looking over the canal.
If you like your gin you are in for a treat there is a sea of different brands, styles and flavours available to choose from. Personally I like the Brambles cocktail which is a refreshing way to enjoy gin over ice, glug glug...
Sitting in one of the comfortable easy chairs we ordered a bottle of the house Cuvee Jean-Paul white, and saved £5 on this with our Canal-St VIP Card.
Atlas’s food menu changes on a weekly basis and offers diners a good selection of dishes for you to share, have a light bite or a more substantial meal. Most choices are priced between £4 and £8.
We ordered the Farmhouse Pork pate to share as a starter. This was a full flavour pate served on a board with toast and pickles, yummy.
For my main course I went for the staple Fish and Chips, after watching several dishes being carried by. This is one of their most popular dishes and is a regular on the menu. I was not disappointed the batter was crispy, the fish was succulent, clearly fresh, and the very tasty tartare sauce looked home made.
Paul choose the Beef Burger, this too was well present complete with a salad dressing and both dishes where served with chunky fries. You can even ask for ketchup.
If you fancy a change for lunch I suggest that you try the lunch express menu a good choice including Cottage Pie, Smoked Salmon and the classic soup and sandwich for only £7 each.
We had a great time and it really helped to cheer up what had been a dull and wet Manchester day. I thoroughly recommend that you give it a try.
